Livin' in the “Cin”–And Going Racing

It’s one of the most exciting weekends of the year in the “Cin!” For the first time in the history of the Kentucky Speedway, the Sprint Cup cars will be racing–but that’s just part of a big racing weekend in the “Cin,” so fasten your seat belts and head to Cincinnati USA for a big weekend!

Let’s start with the first race of the weekend, Thursday night with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: UNOH 225. The truck series has been a yearly favorite at Kentucky Speedway, and this year it’s part of the big racing weekend. Start the weekend early and head to the track for Thursday night under the lights racing!

On Friday, see the NASCAR stars of today and tomorrow compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Feed the Children 300. The up and coming drivers on the NASCAR circuit race side by side with the Sprint Cup stars to the checkered flag. The Nationwide series returns for an exciting night of racing Friday evening!

And then the headliner of the weekend is the inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Quaker State 400. It’s the first time that the Sprint Cup teams have competed at Kentucky Speedway, and it’s sure to be an exciting evening. Now, here are some tips for getting around Kentucky Speedway: First, arrive early. Saturday’s event officially is a sellout, but there are infield standing room tickets for Saturday and the other two events will be packed, as well. Come early, bring sunscreen and enjoy walking around the infield and seeing the crews and haulers as they get ready for the weekend. Second, don’t be in a big hurry to leave. Veteran race goers often tailgate by their vehicles and replay the race with their friends as the first waves of race fans leave the track. Take your time, and it’ll be a less stressful trip back home. It’s race history in the making, and we hope you can be there!

Israeli food makers beware. After the price of cottage cheese doubled in the past two years, Israelis made a Facebook page calling to boycott the country's staple food. After more than 100,000 people joined the page, Israel's three top cheese companies agreed to lower their prices. That's no small feat in a country with a high cost of living that's rising. "Mazel tov," guys! But the Facebook group isn't declaring victory just yet. It plans to take on the prices of other dairy products, too. Ashton Kutcher is embroiled in a Twitter battle with the Village Voice over child prostitution. Kutcher, who appears in a public service announcement against sex trafficking called "Real Men Don't Buy Girls," told CNN's Piers Morgan that between 100,000 and 300,000 American minors engage in the act each year. In an article titled, "Real Men Get Their Facts Straight," the Voice accused Kutcher of exaggerating the number of children in prostitution, which the paper says is closer to 800. The two sides then took to Twitter to battle it out. The Voice tweeted, "@aplusk Thanks in part to you, while Congress spends millions to hype mythical numbers, actual causes and treatment go unaddressed." Kutcher shot back at the paper, which publishes adult classifieds on its site backpage.com, by tweeting, "Hey @villagevoice speaking of data, maybe you can help me... How much $ did your 'escorts' in you classifieds on backpage make last year?" After a flurry of back-and-forth tweets, Kutcher slowed down his tweets on the subject. But the Voice, which is sure to include Kutcher's twitter handle @aplusk in its tweets, is still at it. Maybe it's trying to tap in to Kutcher's 7 million Twitter followers? If so, it's working; it's gained 3,000 followers since it started trading tweets with Kutcher yesterday. Finally, we were wondering what people are looking up on Yahoo! ahead of this weekend's barbecue, beach, and bonfire time. Turns out searches are spiking for America's second favorite pastime: amusement parks! "Disneyland," "Six Flags," and Ohio's "Kings Island" are all spiking in Yahoo! Search. But long lines and roller coasters aren't for everyone. Some want to escape the crowds by going camping, which is why searches for "camping checklist" are up 4,072% in the past month (whatever you do, don't forget your bug spray).
