Vets: get driver's license and services info at same time
— California veterans can now renew their driver’s licenses and request a packet providing information about services and benefits at the same time.To receive the information, veterans will simply need to check a box on the license renewal form, or when applying for a license for the first time.
DMV will then forward those names and addresses to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The veterans department will then mail a flier providing general information about available services and benefits. As part of the follow-up, veterans can provide the department with further information to receive more specific details on education, health care, jobs and other programs.
Veterans can also directly request the information by calling 1-877-741-8532.
There are about 2 million veterans living in California.
