LV MUSIC: Will Stabler concert include another 'American Idol' runner-up?

Both Bowersox and Yamin are diabetics. Bowersox’s struggle with diabetes became public during  her time on “Idol,” when she was hospitalized because of complications from the disease, forcing a last his minute switch in scheduling to give her extra time to recuperate.

Yamin also has been open about his diabetes – he wears an insulin pump – and has been an activist for causes that fight the illness.

Lehigh’s announcement did not list Yamin, and neither his Web site nor Stabler’s list him as part of the show. Lehigh marketing specialist Lauren Sammak said in an e-mail that she had no awareness of participation by Yamin, but said, “the show does have a few openers, as it's a full-day festival.”

It will start with a free festival outside Stabler at 2 p.m. and feature a number of local bands. The indoor concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $39.50 for the floor and lower concourse and $27.50 for the concourse and bleachers. They are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com  or 800-745-3000, at the Stabler box office or 610-758-6611, or all TicketMaster outlets.

The concert also will include a tribute for the military and the 10-year anniversary of 9/11. Members of the Northeast Kiwanis Club will be recognized and honored. As part of the tribute, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Carmen Mango will perform his debut single “America.”

Also on the bill for the Lehigh show are emo rockers Hawthorne Heights and Lehigh Valley singer Jordan White, also an alumnus of “Idol” auditions (he made it to the second round).

Yamin certainly will be in the area for the concert. He’s also scheduled to play Sellersville Theater 1894 on Sept. 16. Tickets for that show, at $25 and $40, are available at www.st94.com or by calling 215-257-5808.

Yamin’s self-titled debut album hit No. 3 and was certified gold in 2007 with the hit “Wait For You.”  After two holiday discs – the first, “Sounds of the Season” in 2007 hit No. 1 on the Holiday albums chart – he released “Fight For Love,” which hit No. 26 on Billboard’s albums chart in 2009.

A new disc, “Gather Round,” is due out this year.

Yamin also has played Allentown’s Crocodile Rock Café twice and played at the city’s Mayfair festival in 2009.

Bowersox finished second to Lee DeWyze on “Idol” after gaining a following for her bluesy folk songs and blond dreadlocks.

Once Maddam Ink took the stage the crowd of fans certainly did thin out quite a bit. It’s a shame for Maddam Ink played a set of songs that Rocked with cool, melodic vibes. The hooks, riffs and head-turning beats were abundant in Maddam Ink’s songs and not one song was a yawner. Tom Coderre (Metal Odyssey’s staff photographer) and I were more than willing to stick around to catch Maddam Ink’s set, we actually were in no big hurry to get home! I’ve always said: it’s not over until the last band plays.

What I like about Maddam Ink isn’t so much that they’re from my home turf of Eastern Pennsylvania, it’s that this band knows how to play . These guys weren’t pounding their chests on stage, they were four musicians displaying their impressive and credible talents while paying their dues, as they have been doing for several years now.
