Equatorial Guinea have done their country proud and put them on the map, when the tournament began there was a cloud of mystery over this squad and they were expected to be cannon fodder for the rest of the group. However both their games have been the most exciting of the tournament to date, The match against Norway was really close and they arguably should have earned a point, as for the game against Australia their was physical play, a blown call by the referee and drama down the stretch. Coach Marcello Frigerio has to be pleased with the showing of his players, especially the likes of Anonman, Diala and Ana Cristina. Anonman and Diala have shown skill on the ball and an ability to get a high volume of shoots on goals while Ana Cristina played well in defensive midfield and provided a physical presence. As for Brazil, they stepped up to another level and showed that they have the skills to make a deep run in this competition, possibly getting over the hump and winning the Women’s World Cup. Going into the match against Norway the Samba Queen s needed chief playmaker Marta to step up and she more then delivered, scoring two goals and setting up the third for teammate Rosana. Coach Kleiton Lima will have liked how his team responded defensively, goalkeeper Andreia, midfielder Formiga and defender Aline made sure the team kept its shape and mental focus from back to front. With Marta now in the swing of things they can use this match go get Cristiane playing at the same level, when both players are combining well they put the fear of god into opposing defenses. Before the tournament started this match wasn’t meant to produce anything other then a stroll in the park for Brazil, but Equatorial Guinea showed they have something about them and will want to go out on a high. With most of the squad being Brazilian or having Brazilian roots they will be looking forward to this match but Brazil seem to be hitting form at the right moment. I’ll go with the OVER in this match, even at 3.5 goals I think this will be a fun one and both of these teams will attack each other non stop.
