Avon Investment Firm Puts $7.1 Million Into New Haven Linen Factory

An Avon-based investment group is putting $7.1 million into a linen factory to maintain 72 workers at its New Haven facility.

Advantage Capital Partners, a venture capital and small-business finance firm, partnered with Avon-based Ironwood Capital to provide the investment money to New England Supply Company Inc., which is a supplier of uniforms, linen and textiles to food-service facilities and restaurants. The New Haven-headquartered company has operations in New Jersey and operates from Boston to Philadelphia.

"New England Linen Supply is a well-established company with experienced management and workforce," said Marc Reich, president of Ironwood Capital. "We are pleased to provide needed funding to sustain current operations and jobs and build a platform for future growth in Connecticut. Our investment in this company would not have been possible without the Insurance Reinvestment Fund Program, which is administered by the (state) Department of Economic and Community Development."

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said, "The purpose of the Insurance Reinvestment Fund Program is to stimulate economic development by providing a source of capital that supports job creation and retention, while also enhancing the investment climate in our state. I am committed to creating jobs in Connecticut and this financing for New England Linen Supply Company is most certainly a welcome step in the right direction.
