11:35 Peru's medicinal plant library has over 1000 native species
Lima, Aug. 13 (Andina). The library of medicinal plants of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Peru currently has over one thousand native species and traditional medicinal use, to research and to preserve the botanical diversity of the country.Biologist Jorge Cabrera, who is in charge of the herbarium of the INS, "said the scientific collection, unique in Peru, medicinal species from the coast, mountains and jungle, which were harvested and prepared for its conservation indefinitely.
Cabrera explained that each species shows its botanical family, scientific name, common name, geographic location, traditional use, the name of harvester, harvest date, ethnographic and phytogeographical information.
