Warehouse to celebrate album release in style
TWO years ago The Warehouse Announcement made their big stage debut at The Maltings when they competed in the Battle of Bands competition, so its fitting that they are returning to the venue on July 30 to launch their first album.
It’s been an action-packed 24 months for Paul Sinclair (vocals), Scott Courtney (guitar), Michael Goldsworthy (guitar), Steven Walker (bass) and Robert Laidlaw (drums) who’ve got an American tour under their belt, as well as slots at major venues in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle and two demo CDs that have caught the attention of music lovers on a local and national level.
And Scott described the release of their album as “a landmark” and hopefully the beginning of bigger and better things.
He told ‘The Guide’: “We’ve been absolutely flat out these last couple months, gigging and working on the album so it’s great that that’s now ready to put out there.
“To be honest we had enough stuff to fill two albums but we decided to document the first 14 songs we wrote as those are the ones that people know us for.
“The demos we’ve had over the last few years have done us proud and they’ve got us some good gigs but it’s great to now have more polished and structured versions of the tracks for people to listen to.
“There are songs on the album that haven’t evolved that much like ‘Life Without Sleep’ and ‘Sound of Drums’ but they are definitely sounding better than they ever have.”
Songs like those two have been Warehouse Announcement’s calling card, along with ‘You Know Me’, ‘Keep On Moving’ and ‘Blind We Collide’ and Scott said there was never any doubt that they’d make the album cut, despite the fact that they’ve played them to death since starting out.
He continued: “There was no point us going into the studio having too strong opinions on what we wanted on the album at the expense of what people would want to hear.
“The obvious ones are all there and nothing that we’ve played lately has been left off.
You can definitely get bored of songs. If we’ve got a weekend full of gigs you can be keen as mustard to play certain songs but by the second night you wouldn’t if you didn’t hear the song again.
“But I have to say recording the album has rekindled our interest in a lot of the older songs. When you’re in the recording studio you have to give plenty of passion and give everything you’ve got on every track as some people will be hearing them for the first time.

further north in Edinburgh Mr Bruce exerted his vocal dexterity over Drum ''n' Bass, Breaks & Funk. The unlikely pair cut their teeth at a few parties and decided to cement the live performance relationship in their makeshift recording studio.
The boys played the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh last night and are at Ross County's Victoria Park in Dingwall tonight. Before they went on stage, Marvin Humes from the band told The Razz: "It's been great. We've nearly finished in that studio
