Woods plays the waiting game

Golf: Lingering leg injuries will keep Tiger Woods out of the British Open next week -- his second straight missed major. Sans Tiger, Rory McIlroy is now the 6-1 favorite to make it back-to-back majors. Count me in on their next head-to-head matchup. (If I were Tiger, I wouldn't keep the fans waiting too long.)

MLB: The Yankees beat the Indians 9-2 behind 11 CC Sabathia strikeouts -- and Derek Jeter's two hits leave him four slugs away from the top of Mount 3,000. ... The Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 3-2 on a super questionable call at home plate. (Replay anyone? I know, I know, it makes the games too slow ...). ... The Angels' Dan Haren threw a two-hitter to carry Los Angeles over the Tigers 1-0, outdueling Justin Verlander, who was ejected in the eighth inning after saying something to umpire Joe West while walking to the dugout.

Women's World Cup: Germany pummeled France 4-2 (Inka Grings scored twice) in a game where both teams were already through to the quarterfinals, with only their next opponent in question. (And note this: German coach Silvia Neid left the tournament's all-time leading scorer, Birgit Prinz, on the bench.) So it was surprising when French goalie Berangere Sapowicz took down German midfield attacker Fatmire Bajramaj in the 65th minute -- just stuck her leg out! Ejected. That left Grings to score one of her two goals on the ensuing penalty kick. Clearly, the sold-out crowd of 45,867 kept players' emotions at a fever pitch. As usual, no love lost between the French and the Germans. No doubt happy to steer clear of that quarrel, England beat Japan 2-0 in Group B for its first WWC group win.

NBA lockout: And the war of words begins. A report from Forbes and Financial World magazines that was liberally quoted by major media sources Tuesday blew a big fat hole in the NBA owners' claims of profitability. (Of course, the NBA immediately released its own statement refuting Forbes' points.) Frankly, if the NBA continues to withhold team financials (and franchises like the Warriors and the Pistons are sold for prices over their valuations) no one's going to believe them anyway. (Methinks they doth protest ...). Clearly the owners risk a missed season. But if they can get player salaries reduced to 45 percent of revenue that could mean $500 million a year -- or $3 billion over the course of this new contract. Can the NBA adopt the NFL's profit-sharing TV model to fund less profitable teams? (Derek Fisher, take a stand!

Oh yea, it is time, yea right lol. Way too expensive of a toy for me. I am struggling just to get a 1/16 version running and that would only be about $1000+ once I am through with it. Your 1/4 tank cost as much as my car.. oh and neither of your tanks would fit in my car, as it only has about as much interior space as a Panzer II. Life is Grand!
